Safe Solution Anti-Slip Treatment

How does the Safe Solution anti-slip process work?
With a typical nonporous, hard mineral surface, moisture and contaminants actually cause hydroplaning, making the surface extremely slippery.

The Safe Solution anti-slip treatment creates microscopic channels in the surface, causing the water and contaminants to disperse from under foot, allowing better contact with the surface at all times.

These microscopic etchings, typically invisible to the naked eye, render a surface so that it is anti-slip by channeling away liquids and contaminants, much the same way as a tire's tread channels away water when a car is driven in the rain.

How is the Safe Solution anti-slip process applied to my floor?
The Safe Solution process is a three-step procedure. First, we clean your surface with a specially formulated, environmentally friendly prep cleaner that removes all surface impurities and prepares the surface for step two, the etching process. The etching process involves a proprietary etch solution that has been formulated to be highly effective on flooring and bathing surfaces and is safe for use in food preparation and serving areas. We can apply the etching solution with a sprayer, a brush, or a mop. In step three, after the etching solution has remained in place a suitable period of time (5 to 7 minutes in most cases), we neutralize the etch solution. This process produces a completely biodegradable, environmentally safe solution that is easily rinsed away with a clean, damp mop.

How long does it take to apply?
The time required for treating your floor depends on the unique characteristics of the floor, how much prep cleaning is required, and the layout of your space. We will provide an estimate for you on the time it will take to treat your flooring surfaces. When treating a bathtub, the Safe Step process typically takes 20 minutes.

Will Safe Solution damage my floor?
The Safe Solution may cause a temporary whitening, or efflorescence, that will disappear after a few cleanings. Prior to any treatment, we always treat a test area to determine any effect the Safe Solution might have on the surface.

Will Safe Solution change the appearance of my bathtub?
At first, you may notice a slight haze, which is normal. After time and with regular use, the haze will eventually fade away and the color will remain the same.

How long will the Safe Solution process last on my bathtub or shower stall?
Provided you do not use abrasive cleansers or cleaners that leave a film, we guarantee that the Safe Solution will last for a minimum of three years.

How long can I expect my commercial flooring surface to remain anti-slip after the Safe Solution treatment?
Because there is a nearly infinite number of tile types in existence and because each customer exposes their floor to different levels of wear, exposure, and cleaning, it's impossible to predict exactly how long the anti-slip properties of the Safe Solution treatment will last for a given floor. This is the reason we created the value-added Floor Safety Maintenance Program, our free program of monitoring your floor and reporting to you its anti-slip properties. Experience tells us that a floor that is effectively cleaned with an ideal cleaner, such as our Clean Step product, will retain its anti-slip properties for a number of years before rejuvenation is required.

Why should I use the Clean Step cleaner?
Most commercial cleaners leave behind a residue that attracts and holds dirt. This not only affects the appearance, but more importantly, such cleaners diminish the safety of the floor or bathing surfaces. Clean Step is a highly effective, super low-residue cleaner, that, when used routinely, ensures the cleanest and safest floors possible.

Neither harsh nor toxic, the Clean Step cleaner is a biodegradable, antibacterial, nonhazardous, gentle formulation.

Is the Safe Solution process safe for the environment?
Safe Solution is safe and environmentally friendly. We make the process even safer by neutralizing the product to make any remaining residue biodegradable and nonhazardous.

How effective is the Safe Solution treatment process?
According to laboratory testing, the Safe Solution process renders flooring and other surfaces to be safely anti-slip, as defined by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM).

Skid Safe Clear Anti-Slip Coating for Concrete, Wood, and Metal Surfaces

What is Skid Safe?
Skid Safe is an extremely durable clear resin that can be applied directly to sealed concrete, wood floors, metal surfaces, tile floors, and metal surfaces. Because it's clear, Skid Safe allows your floor's natural beauty to shine through. Best of all, it can be applied on top of existing sealants, eliminating the need for stripping or resurfacing sealed concrete floors.

I have a sealed concrete floor that is slippery. Can Skid Safe help?
Yes! Skid Safe can be applied directly to a sealed concrete floor without requiring any stripping or resurfacing. Skid Safe is applied directly on top of existing concrete sealers, without lengthy down time for your floor.

How does Skid Safe make my floor anti-slip?
Skid Safe is an extremely durable clear resin. Applying Skid Safe alone produces an extremely durable, clear coating that resists wear for years. By mixing the Skid Safe with aluminum oxide powder, the Skid Safe can make any surface anti-slip.

I've seen clear coatings with aggregates. How is Skid Safe different?
Skid Safe is far more durable than many other clearcoat products. Moreover, many other anti-slip treatments use quartz or silica as an aggregate. These quartz or silica crystals are brittle and crumble over a relatively short time, making the floor slippery again. The Skid Safe process uses far more durable aluminum oxide as the aggregate. Aluminum oxide is far less brittle and will last for a minimum of five years before high traffic areas would need a minimal reapplication.

Just how tough is a Skid Safe surface?
Skid Safe with aluminum oxide aggregate is extremely tough. When fully cured, a Skid Safe surface is tough enough to scratch glass and withstand heavy scraping from a chisel or knife edge.

How long does the treatment take? Will my business be shut down for days?
Skid Safe is fast drying. In most cases, floors can be treated overnight and be ready for foot traffic the next day.

To what other surfaces can Skid Safe be applied?
In addition to sealed concrete, Skid Safe can be applied to most any other hard or soft surfaces. This includes wood, metal, tile, marble, terrazzo, terra cotta, slate, stone, enamel, limestone, vinyl, plastic, and fiberglass.
